Martin Hoffmann

Media manager Martin Hoffmann is Artistic Director (Intendant) of the Berlin Philharmonic. He was born in Nussloch near Heidelberg in 1959 and studied law at the universities of Saarbrücken, Lausanne and Hamburg. Until 1993, he was scientific assistant for Foreign and International Private Law at the Max Planck Institut in Hamburg, where he also practiced as a lawyer. Starting in 1994, Martin Hoffmann became the Director of Business Affairs for the TV station SAT.1. In 1997, he became Managing Director of the SAT.1 Boulevard TV GmbH, from 2000 to 2003 he was Managing Director of the SAT.1 Satelliten Fernsehen GmbH. From 2004 to early 2010, Martin Hoffmann was chairman of the TV production company MME MOVIEMENT AG. Beginning with the 2010–2011 season, Martin Hoffmann succeeded Pamela Rosenberg as Artistic Director of the Berlin Philharmonic.
